  • With pigmented/tinted lime plaster products different tones of color can be achieved by varying the angle and the pressure of the trowel as it is moved across the wall.
  • The combination of natural lime products and pigments allows the artist to create pure, deep color simulating the beauty of the past in the present.
  • Olde World Pigments can be intermixed to achieve a wide variety of additional colors.
  • Always make a sample to ensure the desired result. A quick way to determine the color intensity is to create a test patch. Examine the coloration of the thin perimeter around test patch. (These areas will dry out the quickest.) This area will come close to the final color, but may be slightly lighter.
  • Recording the ratio of pigment to lime in your tests will aide in the duplication of color at a later time.
  • Mix the desired amount of Faux Créme Color™ into AquaCreme™. The intensity of the color will he determined by the amount of AquaCreme™ used. More AquaCreme™ will lighten the color; less will make the glazing mixture darker. The normal color/Créme glaze ratio is 25% color to 75% Créme/glaze.
  • Apply an even coat of the Color Créme mixture with a Foam Brush, using random, even strokes to cover the work surface. Take care to avoid blobs or runs.
  • Remove the brush strokes by blotting gently with a terry cloth pad. Make sure the terry pad is smooth and without folds that could cause unwanted creases in the finish. Patterns may be established in the glaze using a variety of tools and techniques such as dry brushing, pouncing, rag rolling, bagging, etc. Continue to randomly calm and soften some areas of the finish.
  • When Faux Créme Color™ is used in combination with AquaCreme™; the combination will dry to a durable finish, but may be top coated with AquaGard™ or ColorSeal™ for added protection. Faux Créme Color™ used directly from the bottle will dry to a hard durable finish and will not bleed even in high concentrations. Faux Créme Color™ mixed with AquaGlaze® creates a more delicate glaze mixture and will require a topcoat for long lasting durability.
